Schools, high streets, commuters, countryside – a location for everyone in Oxfordshire

A key quality of any highly regarded buying agent is being able to match properties which fulfil the requirements of those in search of their perfect home both visually and practically.

Priorities look different person to person - a certain number of bedrooms, special features such as a cellar or home gym, a property with land or development potential or easy access to schools for example.

Of course, the physical features of a property are important, but helping buyers understand the immediate surrounds and features of the location they are considering moving to is just as valuable.

In our latest blog, we share our thoughts on a few spots in Oxfordshire which best serve the requirements which are often prioritised by buyers.

Schools

Summertown: Oxfordshire is home to some of the UK’s most highly regarded schools, and Summertown is positioned at the heart of the city’s primary and secondary education.

St Edward’s, d’Overbroeck’s, Wychwood School, Oxford High and The Dragon Preparatory School are all within reasonable walking distance or can be reached by car within five minutes even during rush hour.

With beautiful independent shops, fantastic restaurants and stunning houses, Summertown is one of Oxford’s most elegant areas and a must-see for any family that wishes to prioritise their children’s education.

The High Street

Burford: The gateway to the Cotswolds, Burford boasts all the area’s usual attractions including beautiful yellow stone properties, lots of green space and fantastic eateries.

However, what makes Burford really stand out amongst Cotswold towns and villages is its phenomenal high street.

From bijou independent boutiques to fabulous shops, delis, cafes and a few big name brands, Burford high street is a wonderful place to shop, making it popular with anyone looking for both the beauty of the Cotswolds and the convenience of being able to buy essentials.

Woodstock: Another favourite of ours is Woodstock, although we would say that as the town is Oxford Property Consulting HQ!

In addition to its unique boutiques, art galleries, antique shops, tearooms, pubs and restaurants, Woodstock is on the doorstep of Blenheim Palace – a World Heritage Site which welcomes 800,000 visitors to its grounds annually.

Easy travel

Thame: Thame is a vibrant market town with a rich history, great restaurants and an engaged community feel.

Many families are attracted to Thame and its surrounds as it has excellent access by car and train to London, Birmingham and Bicester. Thame is a great place to live for anyone looking to combine the feel of a small countryside market town with all the advantages of excellent transport links.

Watlington: If you’re looking for a location a touch more rural than Thame with the same travel benefits, look no further than Watlington.

Journeys by car to London and the midlands are made easy as the town is just three miles from Junction Six of the M40 while endless opportunities for hiking, cycling and other outdoor pursuits are on your doorstep in the Chiltern Hills.

Countryside and luxury clubs

People are prioritising their physical and mental wellbeing like never before, and it’s prompted a new trend in Oxfordshire’s prime property market.

Properties positioned next to luxury country clubs such as Soho Farmhouse and Estelle Manor not only sell quicker but are mentioned in as many as one in ten property descriptions which are sold on the open market.

If activities, luxury dining and being part of a fun social calendar is your thing, consider Great Tew on the doorstep of Soho Farmhouse or Eynsham located near Estelle Manor.
