Oxford Property Consulting to tee-off in support of Be Free Young Carers!

Fairways will replace properties for one day only next month when Oxford Property Consulting hosts its annual golf day in support of local charity Be Free Young Carers.

Held at Oxford Golf Club in Cowley on Wednesday, September 18, the day will put guests’ driving and putting skills to the test – and limited space on the course remains available to book!

Groups and individuals are invited to start their round from 10am with play held under a Texas Scramble format, meaning all players will take their second shot on each hole from the position of the best tee shot.

The day has been organised in support of Be Free Young Carers and its work supporting young carers by widening life options and improving their emotional and social health plus resilience and development.

The charity celebrates its 30th anniversary this year and works with young people aged 8-17 living in Oxfordshire who people their senior are dependent on.

Ben Procter, managing director of Oxford Property Consulting, plans for a strong turnout on the day to help raise important funds.

“The service Be Free Young Carers provides to Oxfordshire communities can be easy to underestimate,” said Ben. “People might associate our county with wealth, good jobs and outstanding education, but behind that there is a genuine need to support the unsung heroes who care for those dependent on the voluntary commitment of young carers.

“Being a young carer is a 24/7 role – and in most cases people have no choice at an important stage of their life.

“Be Free Young Carers eases the pressures and challenges young carers might face and unlocks opportunities to help the people its team works with to reach their true potential.

“It’s a genuine, heart warming, charity and one we’re proud to support at this year’s golf day. We have a limited number of spaces available for people to sign-up so we encourage those who wish to take part and support our charity of choice to get in touch today.”

The charity’s services to young carers extend to activities and trips, emotional support, counselling and youth groups.

It comes as two-third of young carers explained they suffer from stress, over half (51 per cent) suffer from sleep problems and over a third (39 per cent) are frustrated by their caring role.

Sabiene North, CEO of Be Free Young Carers, added: “Being a carer is a huge responsibility, and understandably young carers can find it overwhelming.

“That’s why Be Free Young Carers was founded, to support young carers in becoming the best version of themselves so they can enjoy the time they have for themselves and aspire to a bright future.

“We’re really grateful to Oxford Property Consulting for taking the time to organise this charity golf day to benefit our work. We hope it’s a huge success and thank everyone already signed-up for taking part.”

Individuals and groups interested in signing up for Oxford Property Consulting’s 2024 Charity Golf Day are invited to email info@oxfordpropertyconsulting.co.uk.

Teams of four are priced £300+VAT with individuals costing £75+VAT – all proceeds from the day will be committed to Be Free Young Carers. Spaces include coffee and bacon rolls on arrival, 18 holes of golf and lunch with a raffle and silent auction held to end the day. Registration is from 8am.
